You never know what will drop into LAS, and on this day, I was in the right place at the right time when this arrived just behind a Virgin Atlantic 747-400 on runway 26L. This A340-500 is the only one based in the United States (though not registered here) and is part of the exciting fleet VIP fleet of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation who operates various aircraft, including the 747SP and 767-300, mostly on Casino and gambling related charters to and from their LAS home-base. Most or all of the fleet may often be found sitting idle on their ramp in LAS, adjacent to the JANET terminal.
