'The Greater Rockford' seen here on display in the Midway Village Museum in Rockford, IL. This plane was flown by Bert Hassel in 1928 on a attempt to fly the plane from Rockford, IL to Stockholm, Sweden over the arctic circle. Due to a fuel shortage Bert was forced to land its Stinson on a Greenland icecap. The plane remained there for almost 40 years before being recovered and restored.
